      So in summary, symptoms of diffuse abdominal pain are common in all childhood populations, in all populations in the world, and in working this up you have to balance the likelihood of finding an abnormality, specifically a treatable abnormality, versus the stress for the child in the work-up.
      And for this reason, I hesitate to recommend that any child with abdominal pain following an E. coli 0157 infection undergo a massive battery of imaging studies because the yield is still relatively low and this child has just been through a very stressful time and so has his or her family.
