      And finally, I wanted to state that all of this really applies to the most common form of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, the kind that one gets after having E. coli 0157:H7 infection, the kind that will occur only once in a child's life. It is not the recurrent kind, not applied to thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura or recurrent or familial HUS -- just the garden variety form of HUS that follows a stereotypical course after infection of food borne pathogen.
