DR. TARR: And finally, I wanted to state
that all of this really applies to the most
common form of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, the
kind that one gets after having E. coli 0157:H7
infection, the kind that will occur only once in
a child's life. It is not the recurrent kind,
not applied to thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura
or recurrent or familial HUS -- just the garden
variety form of HUS that follows a stereotypical
course after infection of food borne pathogen.
Thank you.
