DR. CORNEL:
From then on in the -- the heart continued to improve, and don't ask me why.
Bleeding became a greater and greater problem. It was a nightmare so by the time we got to 66 hours out... we had had one attempt at about 58 hours to come off the machine but there wasn't quite enough in the heart. Just another eight hours and we were able to come off. It wasn't ideal but it was better than what we were doing with the machine at that stage.
After that she made a steady and sustained recovery.
