      Meanwhile, in the arteries supplying the glomerulus, we see a similar process. On the right is a normal artery with an open lumen; this white space, in the middle, is the open lumen, with red blood cells floating by, delivering oxygen to tissues.
      On the left, in HUS, we have a swelling of the endothelial cells and occlusion of the lumen-- in this case a complete occlusion, diminishing the flow of blood and oxygen to the tissues. Sometimes there is just a partial occlusion.
