DR. ROCK:
This shows you now the protease assay
on a series of TTP patients. In this column, you
have normal von Willebrand factor, which is not
digested; in the other columns you have von
Willebrand factor which has been exposed to the
patient's plasma, in other words, with the enzyme
or the inhibited enzyme present to see what the
effect on reducing the von Willebrand factor is.
And I think it's clear here
that there's a great pattern and that they are
certainly not all the same. And yet in this
series the majority of patients were seen within
a few days of presentation of disease at the
most.
