Fruitful focus for subsequent
studies will be the clinical genetic or
microbiological factors that protect a child with
severe HUS from neurobehavioral sequelae.
A major challenge in such
research will be how to incorporate the influence
of hereditable disorders in learning and
attention on post HUS function.
