As the survival rate has improved attention has shifted to the sequelae of an acute episode. Because there is a spectrum in the severity of renal injury we hypothesized that a similar spectrum of cerebral injury would result in subclinical problems with learning and behavior in survivors of HUS who had no obvious neurological impairment at the time of their discharge.
Based on the data that I presented this afternoon our results provided very little, if any, support for that hypotheses.
