      Now, there are a number of ways we can measure kidney structure and function, and I will just talk about what I think are the most common and pertinent ones to HUS. In terms of examining structure, one useful test is the renal ultrasound, and the second is renal biopsy, which is taking a piece of tissue from the kidney and then examining it under the microscope.
      In terms of function, what we're usually trying to get at is the glomerular filtration rate. And we have a variety of ways of doing that. The most common is creatinine, and then the other useful measure of functioning is urine analysis.
