DR. BRANDT:
      This is another picture of the glomerular capillaries where the filtration occurs. There are really two cell layers: the endothelial cells, which are the cells that actually make up the blood vessels, and then epithelial cells which are here in blue, which wrap around the endothelial cells and help to form the filtration barrier, a sort of screen, between the blood and the urine.
      And this is a micrograph of a section of a kidney. The glomerulus is very circular, it's a spherical structure, but on section it looks circular. What we see are the glomerular cells here and around them is where the urine collects and then makes its way down through the tubules.
