S.T.O.P. -- Safe Tables Our Priority is a national, not-for-profit grassroots organization devoted to preventing illness and loss of life caused by foodborne contamination. Formed in 1993, S.T.O.P. was instrumental in making the first improvements to meat and poultry inspection standards in over 90 years. Today we continuework with industry and government to change practices and policies that will ultimately ensure a safer food supply.

S.T.O.P.'s work, driven by both grief and commitment to reform, has been quite successful, but more work remains. We need your support to help us maintain our hotline, monitor continuing outbreaks and cases, educate the public, and monitor governmental policies. Please help S.T.O.P. continue its mission by joining the organization today.

With Your Membership Support, S.T.O.P. is

  • Regularly participating in legislative and governmental policy debates on improving food safety
  • Testifying before Congressional and Senate Committees
  • Participating in USDA, FDA, EPA, and CDC policy meetings and conferences
  • Educating governmental agencies, the food industry, schools and consumers to respond appropriately to the ever-increasing danger of contamination in our food supply
  • Providing support to foodborne illness victims and their families
  • Participating in various media projects regarding food contamination
  • Maintaining a victims' hotline
  • Maintaining the S.T.O.P. website
