Milk, Black Bean Sauce, Queso, Salsa and More Recalled



    Milk Recalled
  •  Albany, N.Y.- The Department of Agriculture is alerting consumers about a milk recall.

    The milk was sold under the names Ithaca Milk Company Lowfat Milk and Ithaca Milk Company Cream on Top Whole Milk.

    It's being recalled because of improper pasteurization, which means bacteria such as listeria and salmonella might not have been eliminated.

    The milk was packaged in quart, half-gallon and gallon sizes of plastic containers.

    All of the recalled products have a container code of SELL BY 013111 and were distributed in the Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and Finger Lakes regions.

    No illnesses have been reported.

    Clostridium botulinum in Black Bean Sauce
  •  HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Business Group Inc., Barb's Favorite Recipes and Ohana Seafoods are recalling Barb's Local Style Black Bean Sauce and Ohana Flavors Black Bean Sauce because of possible health risks due to the potential growth of Clostridium Botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. 

    Consumers should not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled. The sauce was manufactured by First Commercial Kitchen LLC.

     

    Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, may cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision, and trouble with speaking or swallowing.  Difficulty in breathing, abdominal distension, and constipation may also be common symptoms.  People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

     

    The Black Bean Sauce is sold in 12oz. glass jars and labeled as Barb's Local Style Black Bean Sauce or Ohana Flavors Black Bean Sauce. The UPC numbers on the product are 6-75981-42491-8 and 7-02003-72739-6. The recalled sauce was distributed on Oahu and Molokai.

     

    No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. A routine  inspection discovered the problem.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 20, 2025 - Mama Rose's Gourmet Foods of Phoenix, AZ is voluntarily recalling Cilantro Con Queso, Garlic Con Queso, Viper Venom Con Queso and Hopi Corn Salsa, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death.     All Con Queso expiration dates of 01/10/12 and earlier and Salsa expiration dates of 01/06/13 and earlier located on a white sticker on the bottom of the jar are affected by this recall.

    The listed Con Queso and Corn Salsa products were distributed in AZ and WA through retail stores and gift shops.

    Mama Rose's Gourmet Foods has not received any reports of illness connected with these products and has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure. The potential for contamination was noted after routine FDA inspection and product testing found that the products were not processed according to acidified food regulations.

    Salmonella in Chilli Powder - Canada
  • OTTAWA, January 19, 2025 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Super Asia Food & Spices Limited are warning the public not to consume the chilli powders described below because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella.

    The following Mehran brand Chilli Powders, product of Pakistan, are affected by this alert:

    These products have been distributed in Ontario.

    There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

    Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause salmonellosis, a food borne illness. In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections. In otherwise healthy people, salmonellosis may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

    The Importer, Super Asia Food & Spices Ltd. of Woodbridge, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
