MS. ORRBINE:
The knowledge that normal
cognitive and behavioral function can be expected
for those children following that acute episode
is certainly reassuring for parents, many of whom
have been aware of the possibility or are aware
of the possibility of learning disabilities
following an episode of acute HUS.
In addition this information is
important to physicians who need perhaps not to
include neuroanatomical studies of
neuropsychological tests as a routine part of
every follow-up visit, although they are not to be ignored.
