As you appreciate, bacteria were
on the planet first and from time to time they
remind us that the battle for dominance is still
going on. It was mentioned that this S.T.O.P.
was founded following the Jack-in-the-Box
outbreak, but that is not the only source of E.
coli 0157:H7, and indeed, E. coli 0157:H7 is not
the only source of the toxin. There are other
serotypes, although there is common dominance
in the literature.
And where I come from, which is
Toronto, Canada, in Ontario there has been this
last summer a huge outbreak of 0157:H7, but this
time it was due to water contamination.
